From: Ron Klimas WZ1V Subject: [NEWSVHF] ARRL Cabrillo Log submissions Some of you are having trouble getting the ARRL email robot to accept your log enty (KA1EKR said he had a heck of a time). I will now attempt to unmuddy the waters. The general information webpage for Cabrillo Log submissions is at: http://www.arrl.org/contests/fileform.html The submission email address is JanuaryVHF@arrl.org Although the ARRL website says the Subject line should include call sign, contest name and year, ALL that is actually required (per N1ND) in the Subject line is your CALLSIGN. Your Cabrillo log attached file name must be in the form CALLSIGN.LOG Here is an example Cabrillo log, WZ1V.LOG. Note your CLUB name must be spelled out correctly (no abbreviations). I don't believe the order of the header items is important other than START-OF-LOG being the first: START-OF-LOG: 2.0 ARRL-SECTION: CT CONTEST: ARRL-VHF-JAN CALLSIGN: WZ1V CATEGORY: SINGLE-OP ALL HIGH CLAIMED-SCORE: 123456 OPERATORS: WZ1V CLUB: North East Weak Signal Group NAME: Ron Klimas ADDRESS: 123 Any St. ADDRESS: Anytown ADDRESS: CT ADDRESS: 06123 SOAPBOX: Nice 6M F2 opening Sunday afternoon QSO: 50 PH 2002-01-19 1906 WZ1V FN31 K3IPM FN20 QSO: 50 PH 2002-01-20 1838 WZ1V FN31 K6FV CM87 QSO: 903 PH 2002-01-21 0351 WZ1V FN31 WA3DRC FN20 QSO: 144 PH 2002-01-21 0356 WZ1V FN31 WA1T FN43 QSO: 222 PH 2002-01-21 0356 WZ1V FN31 WA1T FN43 QSO: 432 PH 2002-01-21 0357 WZ1V FN31 WA1T FN43 QSO: 1.2 PH 2002-01-21 0358 WZ1V FN31 WA1T FN43 END-OF-LOG: The deadline for submission of logs to the ARRL is Feb 19. If your logging program can't output Cabrillo, save it as an ARRL format .LOG file and download the converter from http://www.w1ghz.org/10g/arrl2cbr.zip Check it over, edit as necessary, make sure your club's name is identified (ie., North East Weak Signal Group), and your ARRL Section (like CT, RI, etc.), then save it as YOURCALLSIGN.LOG. You can then email it as explained above. If all goes well you should get an auto-confirmation back. As long as you get a receipt # back, your entry is safe on the ARRL server. Thanks. -73 es GL, Ron WZ1V P.S. - Some contest logging softwares place an RST field in the Cabrillo file. RST is NOT required in VHF contests, but don't panic if you couldn't get rid of it. This is what N1ND at ARRL contest branch has to say on the subject: From: "Henderson, Dan N1ND" To: "'wz1v@ntplx.net'" Subject: VHF Robot Date: Mon, 28 Jan 2002 09:27:32 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Hi Ron: This is the first VHF contest that the reader robot has processed the full log. My guess is that since the RST is optional in the VHF contest, when Trey wrote the software to read the logs, he didn't include it. He is out of the country until mid-February, but I have asked someone else to see if they can adjust that parameter. The robot is housed in California, and I can't control it or make changes from here (I don't know the language the program was written in). We will get the problem corrected as soon as we can. We will also make sure no logs are excluded. Logs with numbered receipts are already in the queue, so there will not be a need to re-submit. Thanks and 73 Dan Henderson, N1ND ARRL Contest Branch Manager _______________________________________________ NEWSVHF mailing list NEWSVHF@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/newsvhf
